General Ledger Loader - The Data Exchange Utility
Between Proprietary Databases And ACCPAC for Windows General Ledger
General Ledger Loader is a data integration product. It was developed to process a feed file generated by a business' transactional system and upload it into the ACCPAC G/L as a Journal Entry. Our application interacts with the Pervasive or SQL Server database to populate appropriately the relevant ACCPAC tables. This method is superior to creating importable files, especially in situations where a single transaction file contains GL transactions targeted to multiple GL Company files. Indeed it was developed for a New York financial institution with an offshore accounting department using the ACCPAC General Ledger module to maintain the financial records of approximately 200 legal entities.

The institution's data warehouse generates, on a daily basis, a transfer file containing those transactions that are eligible for inclusion in the General Ledger. General Ledger Loader was to process that transfer file, that is, to extract the transactions, segregate them by legal entity and reformat for insertion into the correct General Ledger database. The transactions are organized into Journal Entry batches, as if manually entered using standard ACCPAC functionality. The batches then are flagged as Imported and Unposted so that accounting department personnel can review the batches of externally sourced transactions, perform edits and/or add other transactions manually as required by business rules, and post the batch at their discretion. The General Ledger Loader documents its processing of the transfer file, indicating success or failure, by generating an audit trail file and also produces a "session log" and exception reports for review by the accounting department personnel.
